Obi Obi Community Hall Wedding | Lauren + Ryan

Whilst most grooms are simply left to sort out the transport and turn up on the day (with the rings in hand!), Ryan, a picture framer and photographer, amazed everyone (including his talented artist of a bride) by taking charge of the majority of the research and planning for their big day.

“I had to keep redirecting people to Ryan for wedding questions and vendor contacts and it was funny to see their surprise when I’d mention how involved he was in the whole process. It was really special to have him so involved (albeit interested). It really made the wedding more about us’ as a couple rather than individual wants and desires.—”

It seems all that research really paid off too as Lauren rave’s about one vendor in particular… We really couldn’t of done it without the help of Carly (from CL Weddings and Events), she really was a lifesaver and the person that brought it all together in the end.— Lauren continues, £We wanted the wedding to reflect us - no fuss, raw, simple beauty with a focus on family, friends and good food—.

With their stunning Sunshine Coast woodland ceremony done and dusted (Lauren wore a Rue De Seine gown from Brisbane boutique The Babushka Ballerina beneath the trees) it was escaping in photographer Ben Sowry‘s car, with her new hubby in tow, that takes the cake when it came to Lauren’s stand out moment from the day.

It was such a mad rush right after the ceremony, seeing so many people and feeling the height of all the emotions… that having a moment to ourselves sitting hand in hand in the back of the car (as the storm that was meant to arrive mid-ceremony rolled in) really gave us a precious reprieve to properly take in each other and the moment.—

While this pair tells us that there’s nothing they would’ve changed because it was a perfect day—, Lauren and Ryan have one parting piece of advice for couples in the midst of planning. Don’t get too caught up in the little things or trends, pick out the main thing that is important to you both and focus on that.—
